Crazy John Competition

The Crazy John Competition (during Wappu) is an event, where groups go around various checkpoints performing tasks and competing for the title of The Craziest Group! At the same time the checkpoints, held by the clubs of Otaniemi, compete for the similar title of Craziest Checkpoint.

Traditionally we hold our checkpoint with Polygame and DOT as Otaniemi Triforce. The checkpoint idea varies, but it often combines our individual expertise.

Checkpoints of previous years

2018

Videogameshow, where the contestants had to play two games of bomberman with one controller in live studio with host and commentators and all!
The technical implementation was maybe even more complicated than previous year, but this time it was in plain view of everyone coming to the checkpoint. The game and studio also entertained even the bigger groups better than its predecessor.
We won the competition for the best checkpoint with this!

2017

TV-videogameshow. The contestants went and sit down in an old "living room" with an old CRT television and landline phone in it. On the TV, there was a programme on (being broadcast from the other side of OK20? in reality), where the hosts announce calling their next contestant few moments after the team had sat down. Obviously the landline phone starts ringing then, and voila, you are on the show now! Now your task is to use the numpad on the phone to play the videogame showing on "your" TV screen.
The idea was original and the technical implementation was great except for some sound problems. Unfortunately the technical side of things wasn't visible for the groups coming to the checkpoint. Problems were that playing the game with the phone could only give something to do for so few, and if the group was big, the others got a little left out.

2016

Improved, more resilient Tentacle Monster Game Controller.

2015

Tentacle Moster Game Controller.
